Face-balance is a hang of roughly nothing
Catalogs sell stillness as a virtue. Stillness is only a virtue if the path is straight enough to want it. Plenty of peninsula golfers were handed a face-balanced mallet while their arc still asked for twenty degrees of toe. The ledger exists to catch that mismatch before anyone talks about a sight line.
How we prove it
Wait longer than feels polite
A face that is truly balanced will stop hunting. A face that is almost balanced will keep nodding toward the toe for a few seconds after you think it is done. We wait. Photographing too early is how shops print “face-balanced” on a head that is actually a mild hang.
Then we rake the carpet. Zero on the card plus a strong arc on morning poa is a miss waiting for Cooper-leaning grain. The ledger hour is sixty minutes because the claim is narrow. If we already suspect the stroke, we will tell you to claim a Rest Map or a Harbor Rail instead.
What the ledger will not do
It will not convert a face-balanced head into a 40° blade. It will not bend loft. It will write “claim failed” if the face hunts, and it will write “claim held, arc disagreed” if the rest is honest and the path is not. Both sentences are useful. Only one of them is a reason to change heads.
